WINTER TRENDS

Officially it’s still fall, but we definitely had some days when it felt like winter. And although I am a summer girl I have to admit that FW looks are my favorite. Here’s a list of my favorite trends at the moment! Some of them are super new, some of them have been around for a while now. But all of them are great investments on a capsule closet. You can always adapt these trends to the next season too. :)

SILVER

Definitely the color of the season! Since summer we’ve been seeing silver replacing gold not only in jewelry but also in clothing. Metallic pants have been EVERYWHERE! Pair a silver piece with your favorite boots for an iconic outfit during the holidays. If you like to keep it more minimal and classy, I recommend to invest into a good pair of silver shoes. These Prada pumps for example or high boots - as they are the chicest accessory this season.

CHOKERS

And they are BACK! Since the 2010’s are coming back, so are chokers - with a slight different twist. Pair them with a neutral top and make them your statement piece. This season we will also see a lot of pearls, big flowers (such an early 2000’s moment) and the beloved heart pendant.

BIKER JACKETS

The definition of the IT jacket. Since the beginning of fall we started seeing a lot of this rider/ varsity/ nascar jacket everywhere! We first saw it on the runways 2001. And 22 years later they are back on trend! We love a come back, since that makes it easy to thrift pieces like this. But of course a lot of new brands are hopping on the trend too and you can see some linked below (real and faux leather). Most of them with a super fun and loud design to break away from the neutral colors that we usually wear during the FW season.

MAXI SKIRTS

If you live somewhere where winters are cold like here in NYC, you’re going to appreciate this trend. Usually during the winter we’re used to only wearing pants + a thousand layers on top! That’s why maxi skirts are one of my favorite trends this season. I recommend you invest in a good denim skirt, which you can wear with tights and high boots during winter and with sandals or sneakers during summer. We love a versatile piece!

POINTY SHOES

With the 2000’s back one of the most notorious shoe trends we’ll be seeing is the pointy toe. I have a love-hate relationship with them. I truly love them but my feet hate them!

Last year was all about chunky and square toe (and they are still on trend) but this year we added a little twist with a more delicate, feminine shoe shape. Pointy toe, kitten heel, little bows… it doesn't matter if we’re talking pumps or boots, it’s one of the must have trends this winter! Pair them with a casual jean outfit, with a stunning dress & tights or with your favorite oversized blazer.

Not much to say here… They speak for themselves.

GOSSIP GIRL VIBES

Another proof of how we’re incorporating the 2010’s in our wardrobe is with some preppy Gossip Girl vibes.

You’re either a Blair or a Serena, but you can never go wrong with a nice plaid set. Play around with shapes, adding a vest, layering a corset, over the knee socks, net tights and for the final touch: add a beret.

BALLERINA - MARY JANE FLATS

Since the summer the “Ballerina core” has been trending all over social media. And now we love to incorporate even more elements that actual ballerinas use, such as leg warmers, bows, skirts, bodysuits, boleros. They give a very feminine and sophisticate touch to every outfit. Its not for everyone but I simply love them! If you decide to invest into a designer pair of ballerina shoes I promise you won’t regret it and they will last forever.
